Castro Caldelas already has an official image for its Holy Week 2026. The renowned illustrator, Siro López, has been in charge of giving life to a work that breaks with the traditional baroque aesthetics to embrace a more human, direct and hopeful visual language. Unlike the representations centered on the pain of the Passion, so typical of Holy Week, Siro's poster focuses on the Resurrection. "The central figure, a Christ emerging victorious from the tomb, stands out against a vibrant yellow aura symbolizing divinity. This choice is not accidental as it pays homage to the recent restoration of the Baroque Christ of the local Sanctuary, restoring its splendor under a new artistic gaze. At the feet of the divine figure, several faithful with their backs turned contemplate the miracle, inviting those who observe the poster to join in this gaze of faith. The style used by the author is reminiscent of editorial illustration and comics. Siro uses clear lines and flat colors "to connect emotionally with the viewer". The poster is not only a religious piece, but also a tribute to the local heritage. Among the clouds and mist in the background, the unmistakable silhouette of Castro Caldelas Castle and the sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios is outlined. SIRO LOPEZ Born in Ferrol in 1943, Siro was a precocious draftsman with a facility for drawing since childhood. He was quick to experiment with all possible techniques: ink and brush, sanguine, charcoal, graphite, pen, pastel or even digital techniques. He was also the designer of the Plaza del Humor in A Coruña (1990) and the author of the Galician language course Imos aló?, broadcast on Galician Television between 1989 and 1990. In addition, the Xunta de Galicia has collaborated this 2026, for the Day of Illustration, with the Galician Association of Illustration Professionals in a tribute to this unique illustrator.
