Easter Week in Almagro

Almagro celebrates an intense Holy Week, which fills its streets with religiosity, tradition, color and colorfulness: the spectacular parade of the "armaos" in the Plaza Mayor performing the snail, the thunderous arrest of Jesus in the Plaza Mayor, the silence in the early morning of Good Friday at the passage of the Lord of St. John, the meeting of Mary Magdalene with Jesus Rescued, the deafening irruption of the "armaos" to the Madre de Dios church, the reading of the sentence and the sermon or the sobriety of the Soledad procession with the women dressed in the traditional Almagro mantilla are just some examples of what Almagro's Holy Week is and defines. A unique Holy Week in a unique environment: the Historic-Artistic Site of Almagro. Our Holy Week is included within the Calatrava Passion, declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest. A spectacle that transcends the religious field to write one of the most heartfelt pages of Campo de Calatrava, where light, color, rhythm, aromas and fervor flood the streets of the municipalities of Aldea del Rey, Almagro, Bolaños de Calatrava, Bolaños de Calatrava, Bolaños de Calatrava, Bolaños de Calatrava, Bolaños de Calatrava, Bolaños de Calatrava and Almagro, Bolaños de Calatrava, Granátula de Calatrava, Miguelturra, Pozuelo de Calatrava, Torralba de Calatrava, Valenzuela de Calatrava, Moral de Calatrava and Calzada de Calatrava, through which more than 50 brotherhoods and 20 music bands parade. The popular feeling and traditions, the religious and the profane merge to form one of the most unique celebrations of the region of Campo de Calatrava.
