Villanueva de los Infantes will be recognized as a Tourist Municipality of Castilla-La Mancha after the request approved by the Plenary Session

The Villanueva de los Infantes City Council welcomes the news announced by the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha regarding the town’s designation as a Tourist Municipality of the region, which will be officially published shortly.

This recognition stems from the work initiated by the City Council following the Regional Government’s approval in 2024 of the decree regulating tourist municipalities in Castilla-La Mancha. From that point on, the City Council began developing a Municipal Tourism Quality Plan, with a strategic and medium-term focus.

This plan was unanimously approved at the plenary session held on November 11, 2025, and served as the basis for the formal application submitted to the Regional Government for the declaration of Villanueva de los Infantes as a Tourist Municipality.

During her recent visit to the municipality, the Regional Minister of Economy and Employment, Patricia Franco, confirmed to the municipal government that the application has been favorably evaluated and that the designation will be official shortly, once it is published.

The City Council emphasizes that this achievement is the result of planning, technical work, and a firm commitment to tourism as a strategic pillar of development. The Municipal Tourism Quality Plan includes a set of measures aimed at improving the municipality’s tourism offerings, management, and sustainability in the coming years.

Villanueva de los Infantes continues to establish itself as one of the most prominent domestic tourism destinations, thanks to the promotion of its historical and artistic heritage, the expansion of its cultural and museum offerings, and the sustained growth in visitor numbers.

The municipal government has emphasized that this recognition is not an endpoint, but rather another step in a long-term strategy that will continue to evolve with new initiatives designed to strengthen the municipality’s position in the tourism sector and generate economic and social opportunities.
