Villanueva de los Infantes celebrated World Book Day with a full cultural program aimed at audiences of all ages, featuring live radio broadcasts, children’s activities, and the traditional continuous reading of *Don Quixote*.
The day on April 23 began with a live broadcast of the program Castilla-La Mancha Hoy, hosted by Juanma Lorente, from the Casa de Rueda, home of the Don Quixote Library. The radio segment featured the mayor, Carmen María Montalbán; the councilor for Culture and Tourism, Francisco Javier Peinado; and the president of the Cooperative, José María Arcos.
The program also featured the active participation of students from the CEIP Arqueólogo García Bellido, who attended as part of the audience alongside their principal, Raquel Villar, as well as local residents such as Mercedes Gutiérrez and Gonzalo Fernández de Sevilla.
The activities continued at the former Sagrado Corazón school, where students from CEIP García Bellido and ADIN members enjoyed the “Tititricuentos” show, featuring the El Botón Perdido puppets, organized by the Quevedo Municipal Library.
As is tradition, Villanueva de los Infantes has also joined the continuous reading of Don Quixote, organized by the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. In this edition, those responsible for bringing Cervantes’ work to life were Alfonso Bógalo Rodríguez (Telecommunications), Estrella Albiñana Filoso (Nurse), Cristina Fuentes Muñoz (Librarian), and Jesús Alcalde Vilas (Tourist Information Officer).
The Book Day program will conclude on April 28 with a visit by students from the Miguel de Cervantes Adult Education Center to the Municipal Library, where they will have the opportunity to see firsthand the facilities and services offered by this cultural space.
