Villanueva de los Infantes hosts the dramatized route "The most gallant of all. Don Quixote de la Mancha" as part of the Campo de Montiel gastro-tourist experiences.

On Monday, April 13, the theatrical tour “The Gallantest of Them All: Don Quixote of La Mancha,” originating from La Solana, arrived in Villanueva de los Infantes. It is one of ten events that will tour the Campo de Montiel region with the aim of highlighting its cultural, literary, and gastronomic heritage, as well as its local products.

The second vice president of the Ciudad Real Provincial Council, Sonia González Martínez, along with the town’s mayor, Carmen María Montalbán, participated in this experience, in which Don Quixote and Sancho guided a group of visitors from Ciudad Real through the main heritage treasures of Villanueva de los Infantes.

These gastronomic tourism routes are part of the Campo de Montiel Tourism Sustainability Plan, promoted by the Ciudad Real Provincial Council through its Department of Economic and Territorial Development of the Province and Demographic Challenge. The main objective is to revitalize the region, showcase its cultural, tourist, and natural potential, and directly involve the local population—especially the hospitality sector—by creating links between the different municipalities.

During the event, participants were able to taste cheeses made in La Solana and discover Villanueva de los Infantes’ heritage through the lens of La Mancha’s most iconic characters. “We believe this initiative showcases the great cultural and tourism potential of Campo de Montiel,” emphasized the vice president.

This initiative, open to the public and combining guided tours, tastings of signature products, culinary workshops, and theatrical performances featuring characters native to Campo de Montiel, aims to introduce visitors to the region’s landscapes, history, and literature and position Campo de Montiel as a premier tourist destination.
