Puertomingalvo celebrates its traditional pilgrimage of San Juan de Peñagolosa

Today, Saturday, April 2, Puertomingalvo revived one of its most deeply rooted traditions: the Pilgrimage of San Juan de Peñagolosa. The pilgrims, punctual as ever, gathered at 9:00 a.m. at the church to begin the 14-kilometer walk to the hermitage.
This year, the event had a magical touch: during the blessing of the three boundaries, where the prayer for rain is performed, the sky, as if listening to the community’s prayers, gifted them with a refreshing drizzle. The day was also special due to the debut of the new altar set and incense burners, a project that began nearly a year ago. In 2025, the residents of Puertomingalvo launched a fundraising campaign to finance an altar set worthy of the occasion.
The day continued with the arrival at the Hermitage, where the ACT, the Puertomingalvo Bullfighting Association, organized a community meal and a few beers to celebrate the day. The festive atmosphere, the joy over the rain, and the pride in the new acetre made this pilgrimage an unforgettable celebration.
