Music will once again fill the summer nights in Villanueva de los Infantes with a new edition of the INFANTESMÚSICA concert series, which will take place from July 31 to August 9, 2026, at various historic venues throughout the town.

The festival has already put its season passes on sale, which will allow attendees to enjoy the eight scheduled concerts with reserved seating and a savings of 31 euros compared to purchasing individual tickets. Individual tickets will be available starting June 1.

The program was officially presented on Saturday, May 16, at the Chapel of the Old Sacred Heart School with a concert sponsored by AIE Artistas. Clásicos en ruta, featuring accordionist Sofía Ros, a young Santander-born performer based in Scotland and winner of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Classical Musician of the Year 2025 award. During the performance, she played music by various composers such as Bach, Albéniz, and Piazzola, as well as original repertoire from the Soviet School written for the accordion.

Speakers at the event included the festival’s artistic director, Lorenzo Moya; the provincial delegate for Economy, Business, and Employment, Miguel Ángel Díaz; and the councilor for Culture and Tourism, Francisco Javier Peinado, who emphasized that “the Villanueva de los Infantes City Council has now funded and supported this festival for 14 editions, both logistically and financially, because we firmly believe that Infantes Música is culture with a capital C.”

The councilor also expressed his gratitude for “the commendable work that Musinfa has carried out over these 14 years.” “Thanks to their effort and perseverance, the festival has become fully established, has put Infantes on the map, and has succeeded in bringing great artists from the national and international scene to our town, in addition to supporting promising young talents who are now leading figures in the world of music,” he noted.

The 2026 edition will offer a varied program combining classical music, jazz, flamenco, and performing arts, featuring established artists and young performers with international potential.

The series will kick off on Friday, July 31, with the opening concert featuring young violinist David Martínez González, winner of the 2026 Intercentros Melómano competition, who will perform a violin and piano recital at La Alhóndiga.

On Saturday, August 1, Pilar L. Fernández and Eduardo Frías will present “Dúo Mujeres Compositoras,” a project dedicated to music created by women and specifically focused on Spanish female composers, in a flute and piano format.

Sunday, August 2, will feature one of the festival’s major highlights with “Falla imaginado,” a program created especially to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla’s birth. The performance will bring together Moisés P. Sánchez, Ana María Valderrama, and Pablo Martín Caminero in a piano, violin, and double bass ensemble.

The program continues on Tuesday, August 4, with “Boheme,” a show by film and theater director Javier Elorrieta that fuses jazz and French chanson with prominent musicians from the national jazz scene.

Following the success of last year’s edition, the Jam Session—open to musicians and the public—will return on Wednesday, August 5, at the market’s new venue, a participatory event with free admission.

Flamenco will play a prominent role in this edition. On Thursday, August 6, singer Esperanza Garrido will perform alongside guitarist Juan Anguita in a concert sponsored by AIE as part of the Flamencos en Ruta circuit, with free admission and priority seating for season ticket holders.

On Friday, August 7, the Camerata Da Vinci and journalist and music educator Martín Llade will present “The Thousand and One Nights,” a show inspired by Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade” that combines music and storytelling in the courtyard of the Sagrado Corazón School.

As the main new feature of this edition, the festival is introducing INFANTESMÚSICA CORAL, a workshop for amateur singers aimed at promoting vocal and symphonic-choral music. Participants will intensively prepare Gabriel Fauré’s “Requiem” from August 4 to 7, culminating in a concert on Saturday, August 8, at the Auditorio de la Encarnación. Registration is now open.

The festival will conclude on Sunday, August 9, with the flamenco show “Flor de Romero,” headlined by dancer María Canea alongside Juan de la María, Jonatan de los Reyes, and Luis Medina, in a performance that will explore some of flamenco’s most representative styles.

INFANTESMÚSICA thus reinforces its commitment to bringing high-quality musical performances to Villanueva de los Infantes, combining heritage, education, and artistic excellence in one of the summer’s cultural highlights.
