Beget (Camprodon, Girona) is one of the most beautiful spots in the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees. The town hosted the 2nd Meeting of the Most Beautiful Villages in the Pyrenees.
Ujué-Uxue (Navarra) will host the Third Gathering, which will take place in 2027.
Girona, April 20, 2026. This weekend saw the 2nd Meeting of the Most Beautiful Villages of the Pyrenees, a series of working sessions and institutional gatherings that brought together representatives from the municipalities belonging to this network.
The opening ceremony of this second meeting, held last Friday, April 17, featured an institutional welcome by the mayor of Camprodon and current Delegate of the Government of Catalonia in Girona, Xavier Guitart, who greeted the attendees. For his part, Francisco Mestre, president of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages of Spain—the organization behind the “Most Beautiful Villages of the Pyrenees” brand—congratulated the City Council on organizing the event and on the excellent welcome extended to the participants, and also thanked everyone present for attending this Second Meeting.
The gathering served to further consolidate an initiative that brings together the most beautiful villages of the Pyrenees under a single identity: The Most Beautiful Villages of the Pyrenees. Currently, the brand includes Alquézar, Aínsa, Roda de Isábena, Ansó, and Sos del Rey Católico in Aragon; Beget, Durro, Arties, Bagergue, and Garós in Catalonia; and Roncal and Ujué in Navarre.
During the meeting, participants explored new avenues to strengthen the brand’s promotion and continue enhancing its positioning. They also addressed the need to continue working toward greater institutional support, encouraging the involvement of local governments such as provincial councils and strengthening collaboration between autonomous communities and provincial councils.
In addition, it was reported that the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages of Spain is in talks with its French counterpart, Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, to move forward with the future integration of French villages into the brand, thereby giving it a cross-border dimension.
This meeting also yielded one of the most significant announcements for the network’s future: Ujué-Uxue will host the 3rd Meeting of the Most Beautiful Villages of the Pyrenees, scheduled for 2027. The Navarran municipality will take center stage for the next edition and take over from Beget as host of an event that continues to gain momentum year after year.

Beget, host of the gathering
Exploring Beget means stepping into a village that has managed to preserve its character intact, offering visitors a unique experience. Among its main treasures is the Church of Sant Cristòfol and, inside, the Majestat de Beget, an exceptional Romanesque carving that constitutes one of the town’s great heritage gems and one of its most recognizable symbols.
In addition to its historical and artistic value, Beget is also a starting point for hiking trails and for exploring a privileged natural environment, while inviting visitors to enjoy the local cuisine and the hospitality of a village that keeps its essence alive.

Camprodon and its role in the Girona Pyrenees
The event also takes place in the setting of Camprodon, one of the leading municipalities in the Girona Pyrenees, which offers heritage, cultural activities, scenery, cuisine, and a well-established tradition as a mountain tourism destination. Beget’s connection to Camprodon further adds a broader regional dimension to the event and reinforces its impact across the entire region and the province of Girona.
With this 2nd Meeting, The Most Beautiful Villages of the Pyrenees reaffirm their commitment to continuing to advance a shared project based on cooperation, joint promotion, and the preservation of the heritage and identity of their municipalities, and they thank the Camprodon City Council for its involvement in organizing this event.
