El Castell de Guadalest–Castell de Castells Hiking Trail (EN)

We start the route at El Castell de Guadalest and head toward the reservoir via the CV-755 highway or Costeretes Street.

Once at the reservoir, for the first few kilometers, we pass through a typical Mediterranean forest consisting of Aleppo pines, gorse, rosemary, and many other species interspersed with farmland.
After passing the junction leading to Beniardà, we’ll turn right to climb up the Barranco de las Cuevas ravine. About 200 meters further on, the route heads northeast, and we’ll begin ascending a forest trail toward the pass between the Blocón hill and the westernmost cliffs of the Xortà peak.

After walking about six and a half kilometers, the path skirts the vertical walls that form the southern side of the Blocón hill. The trail we follow winds along the northern slope of the mountain range.

Once at the pass, we find that the path splits into three trails:

The one on the left leads to the Fuente del Castellet, the one on the right to the Fuente de la Umbría, and the one in the middle—which is the one we must take—to Castell de Castells.

We are now very close to the end. A clear sign of this is the presence of buildings and the proximity of the road. Upon arriving in Castell de Castells, we see the Fuente de la Bota. In this town, we can visit the “Arcs” area, the cave paintings at Pla de Petracos, “La Cova del Somo,” and the Fuente de los Tejos.
