03 May 2026 · 12:40
Evento: 22 May 2026 — 24 May 2026
ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC WEEKENDS
Laspuña – Aínsa (Cinca River), May 22, 23, and 24, 2026
The Sobrarbe Nabateros Association is finalizing preparations for the 40th Nabatas Descent, an event now firmly established as one of the most representative cultural events in the Aragonese Pyrenees and on the traditional calendar of Aragon.
On May 22, 23, and 24, Laspuña and Aínsa, along with Puyarruego as the starting point, in the heart of Sobrarbe, will once again take center stage in cultural and tourist activity with a program that combines tradition, history, public participation, and the revitalization of the region.
The official poster captures the essence of the Descent, with the Cinca River as its focal point, the nabata as a symbol of identity, and the collective effort that has ensured the continuity of this tradition.
A program that unites tradition and participation
The program will begin on Friday in Puyarruego with a tribute to the Nabataeans who have brought us this far, in recognition of all those who have kept this tradition alive. The day will conclude with a new edition of the music festival, kicking off a weekend where tradition and community go hand in hand in the unique setting of Sobrarbe.
Saturday will be marked by public participation, featuring a walk along the Camino de los Nabateros, a craft market, guided tours, and a day that will culminate with a community dinner and musical performances.
The most anticipated moment will come on Sunday with the descent of the nabatas down the Cinca River, from Laspuña to Aínsa, along the nearly 12 kilometers separating the two towns, recreating the ancient craft of the nabateros and offering a unique spectacle of great cultural and emotional value. The day will feature various traditional events, including a tribute to the nabateros, especially those who are no longer with us, the nabatera mass, and a community lunch, culminating in the arrival of the nabatas in Aínsa as the grand finale of the weekend.
Much more than an event: identity, memory, and future
The Descent of the Nabatas is not merely a historical reenactment, but a living manifestation of intangible cultural heritage, recognized internationally, representing the effort, the transmission of knowledge, and the deep bond between the region and its people.
The Sobrarbe Nabateros Association highlights the constant work of all its members, collaborators, and institutions, which make it possible for this tradition to continue growing and adapting to the times without losing its essence.
This 40th descent also marks a symbolic milestone that reinforces the commitment to the preservation and promotion of one of the Pyrenees’ most unique traditions.
A weekend to experience Sobrarbe
A large influx of visitors is expected throughout the weekend, cementing the event as a cultural and tourist draw for the region. The streets, squares, and riverbanks will come alive with tradition and camaraderie, in a unique atmosphere that defines the character of Sobrarbe.
The Association of Nabateros invites residents and visitors to join in this very special weekend and be part of a unique tradition that remains alive thanks to collective effort.
