Family Workshops in Nuevo Baztán

20 May 2026 · 11:13

Evento: 23 May 2026 · 12:00 — 14:00

We’re recreating 18th-century trades this coming Saturday, May 23

The Nuevo Baztán Interpretation Center is offering a new themed workshop on May 23 about the industries established in the municipality, where visitors can learn firsthand about the trades of the era and try them out in a fun and engaging way.

The establishment of factories in early 18th-century Spain was a response to the drive for reindustrialization and repopulation that emerged after the War of the Spanish Succession. Goyeneche founded a full-scale complex in Nuevo Baztán that housed both factory facilities and workers’ housing. Textiles, perfumes, bookbinding, and dyes are just some of the industries that families can explore, creating their own projects.

This Saturday, May 23, we will hold a workshop on paper and plant fibers titled “Wet Paper, Chopped Fibers.” The workshop will take place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. This is a free activity, and advance registration is required.

Advance registration is required by calling 918 736 238 or 686 941 217, or by emailing cinbaztan@madrid.org, indicating the chosen date, number of participants, and contact phone number. Organized by the Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Sports. Directorate General of Culture and Creative Industries. Secretariat General of Fine Arts
