On May 22 at 8:30 p.m., the book *La Encina* will be presented in the Courtyard of Arms at the GonzΓ‘lez Santana Ethnographic Museum of Extremadura in Olivenza.

🎀

The event will feature remarks by the author, JosΓ© Mariano FernΓ‘ndez LΓ³pez, and the Director of the La Encina Choir and Dance Group, MarΓa del Carmen NΓΊΓ±ez Mangas, who will present this work dedicated to the group’s history and legacy.

πŸ“š

The book "La Encina" chronicles the history of the La Encina Choir and Dance Group from its origins, serving as a comprehensive effort to preserve the collective memory of one of Olivenza’s most iconic cultural groups. It is a 240-page volume, illustrated with 56 photographs, the result of a 16-month production process.

πŸ‘‰πŸ»

Within its pages, the book pays special attention to the three presidents the group has had throughout its history: Choni Ramallo de la Granja, Emilia Robles, and MarΓa del Carmen NΓΊΓ±ez Mangas, key figures in the group’s continuity and evolution.

🎢

The publication also addresses fundamental aspects such as traditional costumes, dances, and the musical repertoire, as well as the contributions of key figures in the group’s history, including Paco GonzΓ‘lez Santana, TeΓ³filo Borrallo, and Manuel SΓ‘nchez, among others.

🌍

Throughout its pages, 80 years of history are recounted, during which the La Encina Choir and Dance Group has carried the name of Olivenza to numerous international stages, including various European countries, as well as destinations in Latin America such as Argentina and Mexico, and various countries in Eastern Europe.

🌳

"La Encina" is presented as a tribute to the living memory of a group that forms part of Olivenza’s intangible heritage, with the aim of preserving its legacy and projecting it into the future.

The publication of the book was made possible with the collaboration of the Olivenza City Council and the Badajoz Provincial Council.
