"Literature and Thought" Conference
On May 9, the Santillana del Mar City Council will host the "Literature and Thought" conference, an event that will bring together internationally renowned writers and thinkers at the Torre de Don Borja.
The program will run throughout the day and feature open discussions among leading figures in the fields of literature and thought: Alma Guillermoprieto, Marta San Miguel, Javier Gomá, Marcos Díez, Juan Gabriel Vásquez, and Jesús Ruiz Mantilla.
In addition to the literary program, the event will also serve to pay tribute to Francisco Pérez González, “Pancho,” on the occasion of the centennial of his birth. A leading publisher, he was, alongside Jesús Polanco, one of the driving forces behind the Santillana Foundation establishing its headquarters in Santillana del Mar for more than three decades, helping to consolidate the town as an important cultural hub. Since 2019, this legacy has remained alive thanks to the efforts of the Polanco and Pérez Arauna families, through a cultural project focused on exhibitions and meetings with prominent figures from the cultural sphere.
The event is free of charge; however, due to limited capacity, advance registration is required by calling 699 26 54 69 or emailing contacto@torrededonborja.es.
With this initiative, Santillana del Mar reaffirms its role as a meeting place for culture, thought, and dialogue, positioning itself as a leading destination for high-quality cultural tourism.
