ANSOVELLAS | A Festival of Pastoralism, Gastronomy, Tradition, and the Local Landscape

On June 13, Ansovellas will be launched—a day dedicated to celebrating an ancestral way of life that has endured for centuries and has been—and continues to be—the fundamental socioeconomic pillar of the valley, alongside tourism.

Coinciding with Saint Anthony’s Day—the date on which grazing lands were traditionally allocated and a very special day for livestock farming—we want to celebrate, share, and recognize the importance of this living legacy.

The event will have two aspects: a fun and festive one, to enjoy as a community, and an educational one, to better understand the value of livestock farming, wool, grazing, the knowledge tied to the region, and the rich cuisine that springs from it.

Gastronomy will be a fundamental part of Ansovellas, because a town’s history is also told through its cuisine. For this reason, the event will feature a tour of Ansotano lamb tapas, during which local establishments will prepare a special tapa to highlight this local product—one that defines our identity and is deeply rooted in our livestock-raising tradition.

An opportunity to savor Ansó, support local restaurants, and celebrate Ansotano lamb as an essential part of our culture, our landscape, and our way of life.
