SALVADOR VICTORIA" MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART (EN)
Located in the Campanar neighborhood, where the original settlement of Rubielos once stood, is the Salvador Victoria Museum of Contemporary Art. In 1757, the City Council approved the construction of this building as the Hospital de Nuestra Señora de Gracia, dedicated to housing pilgrims and the destitute. It was founded by Juan Rosell, a native of Rubielos, in 1384, and was originally located on Doctor Arnau Street.
Today it houses part of the work of the Rubielos-born painter Salvador Victoria, born in Rubielos in 1928 and buried in this town in 1994. This museum showcases the life and work of this abstract artist and other contemporary artists with whom Victoria exchanged works, along with various generous contributions from painters representing different current artistic movements.
The museum stands out for its resplendent interior and the fresco that crowns the vaulted ceiling of the staircase. The views enjoyed by the museum immerse the visitor in the landscape where the brilliant artist grew up: green and brown mountains, an intense blue sky, and a powerful light that has always been a hallmark of his paintings.
On March 1, 2015, it was awarded the 2014 Prize of the Aragonese Association of Art Critics (AACA) for the best contemporary art exhibition space in Aragon
