Diagosto (EN)

In La Alberca, Diagosto is the highlight of the summer, a festival that blends tradition, religion, and popular culture in one of Spain’s most iconic historic districts.

Diagosto
Culture

Tradition, faith, and folk theater in the heart of the Sierra de Francia.

Held from August 14 to 18 in honor of Our Lady of the Assumption, Diagosto is the town’s biggest festival, designated a Festival of National Tourist Interest.

🎭

One of the highlights takes place on August 15, with a procession winding through the town’s streets to the Plaza Mayor, where the traditional Offering to the Virgin is held, accompanied by traditional costumes, dances, and a vibrant atmosphere.

La Loa:

On August 16, La Loa is performed—a popular play with origins in the 17th century that blends religious and secular elements and conveys moral values through the portrayal of virtues and the deadly sins. This tradition has been declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest and an Intangible Cultural Asset.

El Diagosto is much more than a festival: it is a deeply rooted cultural expression that has managed to preserve its essence over the centuries.
