Religious Play and Three Kings Parade

Auto Sacramental and Three Kings Cavalcade

Dating back half a century, it is one of the earliest popular stagings of the modern sacramental play and has been declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest.

It was promoted on the initiative of Antonio Niceas, chaplain of the Convent of the Poor Clares and director of the Diocesan Museum, who commissioned the texts—covering scenes related to the arrival of the Three Kings—from the poet Leopoldo R. Alcalde.

Later, other scenes related to the Nativity were added, unfolding from mid-afternoon on January 5th at various locations throughout the town center, culminating around 9:00 p.m. with the Adoration of the Magi at the portal beneath the Don Borja Tower in the Plaza Mayor.
