FEAST OF THE VIRGEN DEL CARMEN (EN)

July 16 marks the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patron saint of Rubielos, making it a day filled with festive events and activities.

The day of the Carmen begins with a Mass at the former collegiate church of Santa María la Mayor. In the afternoon, kicking off the annual bullfighting events, the rope bull is paraded through the streets, followed by the procession and hymn in honor of the Virgin of Carmen. As night falls, a fire-balled bull is paraded, followed by a popular street festival at the sports facilities.

The day before, on July 15, the young men of the draft class are in charge of carrying the lantern through the streets of Rubielos, accompanied by the marching band playing processional songs.
