Hita Launches Guided Theater Tours of Its Historic District

They will take place on Saturday, April 4, at 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., led by Escarramán Teatro

The City Council is launching a new dramatized tour service with the aim of expanding the municipality’s tourism offerings. The tours will begin at the Arcipreste House Museum (Tourist Office) and will take visitors through the wine cellars of the Barrio Alto and Tío Diego neighborhoods, the ruins of the Church of San Pedro, the Plaza del Arcipreste, and the Doña Bellida wine cellar. The tour will last approximately two hours.

José Luis Matienzo and his company, Escarramán Teatro, will be in charge of narrating the history of Hita’s powerful Jewish quarter and the winemaking process in the ancient cellars carved into the hill. They will also recite the most entertaining verses and fables from the Arcipreste’s Book of Good Love. Tickets are now available for purchase through the City Council’s official website (www.hita.es) and at the Municipal Tourist Office.
