Theater: Data Bilis

The La Merced Cultural Center is hosting a theatrical performance of *Atra Bilis*. A production by SótanoB (Asturias), Hilo Producciones (Cantabria), and La Estampa Teatro (Extremadura).

Synopsis: 

Four elderly women, filled with resentment and bitterness, gather at the wake for Nazaria Alba Montenegro’s husband on a stormy night.

The atmosphere is ripe for conversation, and memories, heartbreaks, secrets, and hidden hatreds emerge, opening a can of worms. Hatreds, secrets, and desires will come to light over the course of a stormy night. From the murder of a baby to the death of a cat… from infidelities committed fifty years ago to deceptions from the day before… “Atra Bilis” is a farce that combines elements of carnivalesque grotesque and demonic, spectral grotesque to create picturesquely grotesque monsters, in a spectral atmosphere that seems to herald the imminent Apocalypse.
