Bubión revives the Legend of the Captive Moor on February 13 and 14, 2026.

On February 13 and 14, 2026, coinciding with Valentine's Day weekend, the municipality of Bubión (the only Cittaslow destination in Andalusia) will relive its Moorish past. Immerse yourself in the tragic love story of Zecilla and Diego de Enciso in an experience that combines theater, medieval music, crafts, and traditional cuisine.

Program of Activities

Friday, February 13: Memory and Identity

  • 6:00 p.m.: Official opening at the Casa de la Cultura.

  • 6:15 p.m.: Conference "Between Threads and Silences," a dialogue on the identity of Moorish women with experts from the University of Granada and master craftswomen.

Saturday, February 14: Bubión as a Living Stage

  • 10:00 a.m.: Opening of the Craft Market and workshops in the Plaza Doctor Pérez Ramón.

  • 10:30 a.m.: Tasting of traditional sweets and Moorish tea.

  • 11:00 a.m.: Dramatized tour "The Legend of the Captive Moorish Woman." A tour with actors and live music through the streets of the village (departing from the Town Hall).

  • 2:00 p.m.: Community lunch of migas alpujarreñas (proceeds go to the Spanish Ondine Syndrome Association).

  • 4:00 p.m.: Concert by the group Alboronía (medieval sounds) in the Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario.

  • 5:00 p.m.: Grand theatrical finale at the Revellín.
