The event is entering a new phase by expanding its range of disciplines, reinforcing its family-friendly nature, and promoting greater involvement from the Sierra de Segura region.
The historic El Yelmo International Air Festival begins a new phase in 2026 under its new name: FIAM, International Air and Mountain Festival, an evolution that reflects its growth and the incorporation of disciplines linked to the mountains and nature.
Organized by the Segura de la Sierra City Council and directed by Antonio Lope Morales González, a native of Orcera, the festival was founded in 2000 with a focus on aerial sports such as paragliding, paramotoring, hang gliding, and BASE jumping, establishing itself as a leading national and international event. Over the years, it has hosted top-level competitions such as the 2022 Spanish Championship, the 2023 Pre-World Cup, and the 2024 World Cup, as well as events like Trail Running and Hike & Fly, alongside a wide-ranging educational program open to the public.
The aerial exhibitions, featuring the Spanish Air and Space Force—Patrulla Águila, PAPEA, Eurofighter, F-18, and Patrulla ASPA—have been one of its major attractions, along with the opening ceremonies held at the Castle of Segura de la Sierra.
In its 26th edition, FIAM is expanding its program to include mountain and adventure sports in the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura, and Las Villas Natural Park, incorporating e-bike routes, the “La Serrana” mountain bike route, downhill MTB, and geological and hiking trails, which will coexist with traditional aerial disciplines.
Beyond the expansion of sports activities, the FIAM is reinforcing its commitment to making the festival more family-friendly, with activities for all ages, and to involving the entire Sierra de Segura region, consolidating it as a collective project and a driving force for social, sporting, and economic revitalization.
The festival is supported by the Provincial Council of Jaén and the Regional Government of Andalusia, whose backing has been key to its establishment as an event that combines spectacle, competition, and participation in a privileged natural setting.
