Frigiliana
Frigiliana is undoubtedly one of the most charming of Malaga's White Villages. Awarded the National First Prize for Beautification in 1982, its historic centre has been a Historic-Artistic Site since 2014 The whitewashed walls, narrow and winding streets, and endless stairs that run through the Barribarto represent the Moorish heritage left by the passage of time in the old town of Frigiliana, one of the best preserved in the province. Frigiliana is located in the easternmost part of the Axarquía region, overlooking the Mediterranean from the Natural Park of the Sierras de Almijara, Tejeda and Alhama.
Frigiliana has a wide range of tourist services to satisfy any visitor's demands, including a varied range of accommodation (hotels, tourist apartments and rural houses) and a good number of restaurants offering all kinds of local, national and international cuisine. The fried kid goat in almond sauce, varied fresh vegetable stews, outstanding cod stew in Easter (thus observing the traditional Lent), the migas… These are just some of the typical local dishes, all made with oil from our olive groves and watered with the rich muscat broths of our vineyards, without forgetting, of course, the recipes made with cane syrup: fried aubergines with cane syrup, arropia (a milk caramel), marcochas (popcorn with cane syrup)...
Various indigenous artisan traditions survive to this day in Frigiliana, and materials such as esparto grass, calabash gourds, wax, glass, clay, wood and wool become beautiful works with unique finishes that can be purchased in the shops of the Historic Quarter.

As Mayor of the town of Frigiliana I would like to cordially invite you to get to know our town.
It is difficult to explain in a few words what Frigiliana offers as a town, but I can guarantee that your visit will not leave you indifferent. We are a small town in the Axarquía region of the province of Malaga. Frigiliana nestles in the foothills of the Sierra Almijara, but faces out to sea, so a visit to our town means you can enjoy the best of the mountain and the coast at the same time.
Take a look at the information you on this page to discover a sample of Frigiliana's charms. If you decide to visit us, you will discover much more besides, from large festivals, such as the 3 Cultures Festival, to others that are far more local and traditional, such as the Day of the Cross or our solemn Holy Week.
But for now I will keep it brief - all that remains is for me to invite you to come and get to know us because I am sure that you will return delighted.
Warm regards.
