Parauta
The town of Parauta dates back to the Muslim period, of which it retains the most important features in its Plumilla de Parautaurbanismo, and its history goes hand in hand with that of Ronda and other villages in the southern part of the Serranía.
In the ancient Hisn Autha, in a nearby farmhouse called Torrichela, it is believed that Omar Ben Hafsun, leader of the rebellion of the Muladis that spread throughout almost all of Andalusia and whose kingdom, independent of the Caliphate of Córdoba, lasted until his death, was born around 854. Other authors place the birthplace of Omar Ben Hafsun in different municipalities in the province.
His conquest by the Catholic Monarchs took place at the same time as that of Ronda, and from that time onwards there was a demographic decline in the Mudejar population, either due to deaths during the rebellions or to the non-acceptance of the status of Moorish, which implied conversion. The place was repopulated by christians.
