Guided Tours

Explore the richness and history of this unique castillo resource in Puertomingalvo.

Description

The heritage tourism resource "Guided Tours" of Puertomingalvo corresponds to the visit to the Puertomingalvo Castle, a fortress located at one end of the town, on a rocky spur, in the municipality of Puertomingalvo, Teruel, Aragon. The heritage file of the Government of Aragon indicates that the castle has been restored and fitted out as a museum, and that the guided tour can be arranged from the Tourist Office. It is a castle of medieval origin, linked to the Templar conquest of the enclave in the 12th century, according to the regional heritage information. The municipal website and the local tourist offer place the historical tour in this medieval setting, highlighting the dungeons of the fourteenth century and the subsequent evolution of the whole. By its typology, it is a rock castle adapted to the topography of the hill, with defensive function and control of the settlement. Among the heritage elements documented in the sources consulted are the fortified enclosure itself, the old dungeons and the museum space inside the castle. The guided tour is part of a broader itinerary through the historic center of Puertomingalvo, but the core of this resource is the castle, whose conservation and openness to the public allow us to interpret the medieval history of the town from a key piece of local real estate heritage.
