The Torrent de Pareis is a large karst canyon about 3 kilometers long, carved into the limestone of the Serra de Tramuntana and with walls well over 200 meters high. It starts in s'Entreforc, where the Gorg Blau and Lluc torrents converge, and ends in the cove of Sa Calobra, with a very marked encasement and a bed of boulders modeled by the erosion of the water. In episodes of heavy or prolonged rainfall it can have a flow, but for much of the year it is dry or with occasional runoffs. From the visit point you can appreciate the real scale of the gorge: vertical walls, bare rock strata, a narrow corridor and the abrupt exit to the sea in Sa Calobra. It is a landscape of strong contrast between the mountain and the coast, highly valued by hikers, photographers and geology lovers for its deep gorge shape and the feeling of isolation that transmits the interior of the torrent. The area has been declared a Natural Monument since 2003 within the Serra de Tramuntana, an area protected for its landscape, geological and biological values. Endemic species and unique fauna such as the ferreret are found in the area, and the place appears regularly in nature guides of Mallorca. The visit is especially interesting after wet periods, when the torrent can show water, and in the early hours or at the end of the day, because of the light shining on the walls of the gorge.
