Trail to La Cuba

Description
The Sendero a La Cuba is a short marked hiking trail that links Mirambel with the neighboring town of La Cuba, in the territory of Maestrazgo Teruel. It is a linear route integrated in the network of paths of the area, with an approximate length of 5.2 km and medium difficulty, suitable for a short outing between villages in the interior of Teruel. The main interest of the itinerary lies in the transitional landscape between the two nuclei: a rural environment of mountains, gentle hills and open views, with the sober and little altered character of the Maestrazgo. Along the way, the silence of the natural environment, the traditional relationship between roads, fields and small towns, and the arrival at Mirambel, a medieval village of remarkable heritage value, can be enjoyed. The route is especially interesting for combining walking and reading of the territory: it connects two historic villages and allows us to understand the dispersed structure of the rural habitat of this region. Its signage facilitates recreational use and reinforces its role as a low-demanding itinerary for visitors seeking nature and heritage in the same excursion.
How to get there
By car: from Mirambel, follow the exit from the town center towards the signposted area of the path to La Cuba; the local documentation locates the start next to the San Pablo gate, after which you take the path on the left. Parking: it is common to leave the vehicle in the streets or small parking areas of the town; there is no specific parking area set up for the route. Trail: linear linking route; the official length of this variant does not appear in the consulted file, although the complete La Cuba-Mirambel stage appears as a demanding hiking route in other guides. Footwear: hiking shoes or light boots with grippy soles. Best season: spring, autumn and cool winter days. Warnings: route exposed to the sun in several sections, with a practical orientation of crossing; it is advisable to carry water and check the state of the signposting before leaving.
