Selva de Oza is a large wooded area in the valley of Hecho, in the Natural Park of the Western Valleys, crossed by the Aragón Subordán river and nestled between Pyrenean peaks that exceed 2,000 meters. Its landscape combines fir, beech and pine forests with a very marked high mountain background, which explains its natural value and its traditional use as a base for excursions and outdoor stays. From the visiting area you can appreciate above all the lushness of the forest, the narrowness of the valley and the rapid transition to the rocky slopes and the great peaks that close it. It is an interesting place both for its landscape and for the possibility of walking among very mature forest masses and, at the same time, having medium and high mountain itineraries within reach. The bibliography and hiking websites regularly cite it as one of the best known enclaves of the Jacetania and the Aragonese Pyrenees, as well as being part of the protected area of the natural park. It is also a very frequented area as a starting point for routes, camps and nature activities. The best time to enjoy it is usually between spring and autumn, with special interest in autumn for the color of the forest. In winter the access can be conditioned by snow or ice, and it is advisable to check the state of the road before going up.
