Description

Sant Inés is a high mountain spot located in the municipality of Vinuesa, in the surroundings of the Picos de Urbión and the mountains of La Cebollera, within the region of Pinares. The name is associated here with the Puerto y Punto de Nieve de Santa Inés, an open space of slope and hill, with heights around 1,850 m and mountain landscape modeled by the cold climate and winter snow.[2 From the point of visit a wide landscape of pine forests, hills and mountains of the Iberian system is dominated, with a clear sense of border between valleys and watersheds. In the winter season the environment functions as a small ski resort, while in the rest of the year it is still of interest as a natural viewpoint and a base for hiking and biking routes.[10 The place is mentioned by Vinuesa's own tourist website as the smallest snow point in the peninsula, and also by local guides and routes linked to hiking and cycling. The presence of a mountain cataloged as Santa Inés in Vinuesa reinforces its geographical and forest relevance in the territory.[14 The best time to visit it, if you are looking for open landscape and good visibility, is usually from late spring to early autumn; in winter the interest turns to snow and sporting activity.

How to get there

By car: from Vinuesa take the local access road to Puerto de Santa Inés; the route is about 18 km along a mountain road to the high area of the snow point. Parking: there is parking at the foot of the trail and parking is indicated as free. Trail: if you only access the site and the trail area, there is no mandatory hiking route; the main access is by road. Footwear: hiking shoes or boots in winter; in cold weather there may be ice and packed snow. Best time: winter for snow; late spring, summer and fall for scenery and clear road. Warnings: on snowy days chains or winter tires may be necessary; check road and facility conditions before climbing.
