The Salto del Nervión is a large waterfall associated with the Nervión River in its upper section, on the edge of the Delika Canyon and within the environment of Mount Santiago. It is a vertical drop of more than 220 meters, considered the highest in the Iberian Peninsula by most of the sources consulted. The view opens onto a limestone outcrop and a transitional landscape between Burgos and Alava, with a very marked relief of canyon and watershed. From the point of superior visit the complete precipice is contemplated, the emptiness of the canyon and, when it takes water, the sheet of the cascade falling next to the rocky wall. It is a particularly interesting place for the reading of the landscape: the waterfall only shows its best side in periods of rain or thaw, and in low water it can be reduced to a dry gorge. The environment is part of the Natural Park/protected area of Monte Santiago and appears frequently in nature and hiking guides. It is best visited in spring and autumn, when flow and visibility are more likely. On days with low fog or after recent rains, the contrast between the green of the forest and the cliff is usually very noticeable. The most common access reference is the Burgos slope through Berberana and the top of Monte Santiago, although the resource is located exactly on the territorial boundary with Álava.
