The Saltant de l’Aigua is a small waterfall nestled in the Serra de Jordà mountains, within the municipality of Figuerola del Camp, in the province of Tarragona. Physically, it is not a large, permanent waterfall with a heavy flow; it is more like a ravine or gorge where water flows down the rocky wall, forming a modest stream that depends on rainfall. The main attraction of the site lies not in the size of the waterfall, but in the vertical relief of the rock face and the trail that runs alongside the old waterway or the ravine from which it takes its name. From the viewing point, you can see the gorge and the structure of the cliff face, which has been used to install a beginner-level via ferrata, known as the via ferrata of the same name. This short route, classified as K1, allows hikers to ascend alongside the ravine and offers views of the Alt Camp; it is ideal for beginners and children due to its low technical difficulty. The presence of the via ferrata has made Saltant de l’Aigua a go-to spot for beginners in this sport in the area, rather than simply a destination for traditional waterfall climbing. The site is located within the mountainous geological landscape of the Serra de Jordà, featuring forest and scrub vegetation typical of the area. Although it is not a viewpoint directly accessible from the road, its current significance is linked to the vertical sports activities that take place there. The best time to visit is in the spring or fall, when the water flow is at its most interesting and rock conditions are most favorable, or in the early morning hours during the summer to avoid the intense heat.
