Durro - Saraís - Pont de Saraís Trail
42.47505, 0.77743
Description
Short hiking route in the surroundings of Durro, in the Vall de Boí, linking the village with the uninhabited village of Saraís and the Pont de Saraís. The route starts next to the church of the Nativitat de Durro and runs along the slopes and terraces of the valley, with a traditional route of communication between mountain villages. The available information places it in a mid-mountain Pyrenean landscape, above 1,000 meters of altitude, in the Alta Ribagorza area, Lleida. The route is of interest for its landscape and ethnographic value: it crosses meadows, terraced fields and stretches accompanied by dry stone walls, very characteristic elements of the rural Pyrenean landscape. In the final stretch you reach Saraís, an abandoned village where ruins are still visible, including those of the Romanesque church of Sant Llorenç, which adds a heritage component to the walk. The Pont de Saraís acts as the final milestone of the route and as a reference of the old valley road. Because of its approach, it is a short outing, of interest to visitors seeking to combine nature, local history and popular architecture in a quiet mountain setting. Its inclusion in the offer of experiences of the Vall de Boí reinforces its value as an interpretive walk rather than as a great sporting itinerary.
