Pont dels Anglesos

Description
The Pont dels Anglesos is a pedestrian access point to the Natural Park of s'Albufera de Mallorca, in the municipality of Alcúdia, next to the Ma-12 road, in the Platja de Muro sector. It is not an isolated monument, but a territorial reference linked to the main entrance of this protected area, widely used to start the visit to the wetland. Its natural interest lies in the immediate surroundings: s'Albufera is the largest and most important wetland area in Mallorca, with approximately 1,700 hectares, formed on an ancient lagoon separated from the sea by a string of dunes and then modeled by sedimentary contributions. Access to the park from this point is on foot or by bicycle, which helps to conserve the space and maintain the peaceful atmosphere required for wildlife observation. What can be seen from here is the transition between the coastal strip, the waterlogged areas and the network of canals, reed beds and inland lagoons of the park, a very valuable landscape for aquatic and migratory birds. This is why access is of particular interest to those seeking gentle hiking, bird watching, and contact with a well-preserved wetland landscape. Its relevance is given by its environmental protection: s'Albufera was declared a Natural Park in 1988 and is part of the Natura 2000 network as ZEPA and LIC, as well as being a wetland area of international importance Ramsar. The Pont dels Anglesos is thus associated with one of the best-known gateways to a natural space of the first order in the Balearic Islands.
How to get there
By car: from Alcúdia, take the road to Artà/Port d'Alcúdia and follow the signs to s'Albufera; the bridge is next to the park access. Parking: there are parking areas at the park access and around the entrance; check local signs and do not block roads. Trail: does not apply as a long route; the bridge is a direct access point and the walk through the park depends on the chosen itinerary. Footwear: comfortable, closed and suitable for walking on flat terrain and possible humidity. Best time: fall to spring, especially in cool weeks with bird activity. Warnings: the environment can be humid, with mosquitoes in the warm season and specific rules for access and transit within the park.
