Description
Playa del Jablillo is a small urban beach of sand and rock located in Costa Teguise, in the municipality of Teguise, on the east coast of Lanzarote. Its coordinates place it next to the coastline of the tourist center, in a very accessible and sheltered from the waves. Some descriptions place it with about 150 m in length, although other sources offer different measures, so it should take that figure only as an approximate. What makes it unique is its character as a cove sheltered by a breakwater, which leaves very calm waters and favors family swimming and snorkeling at low tide. The environment combines golden sand, shallow bottoms and rocky sectors, with a semi-urban beach environment where the promenade, adapted access and nearby services are part of the visiting experience. Its interest is not so much landscape of great isolation as recreational and coastal: it offers a clear reading of the urbanized coastline of Costa Teguise, with good shelter, easy access and intensive use. For demanding visitors, it stands out for the quality of its calm waters and the possibility of observing small marine environments in shallow waters, especially at high and low tide. In the tourist documentation consulted, it also appears as an accessible and very frequented beach, with lifeguards, showers, hammocks and a nearby public transport stop. The sources reviewed have not found a specific figure of environmental protection associated with the site itself, beyond its value as a coastal space for public use in the municipality of Teguise.
How to get there
By car: from the center of Costa Teguise, take Avenida del Jablillo to the end near the sea; the beach is at the end of the road, in the coastal area. Parking: there is a large public parking lot next to the access according to the tourist sources consulted.[9 Trail: short and practically flat access from the parking lot; there is no hiking trail. Footwear: comfortable shoes for urban walking or beach flip-flops; the nearby volcanic rocks make it advisable to be careful. Best time of year: all year round, especially in the cooler hours and, if bathing is of interest, on calmer sea days. Warnings: urban beach with high affluence in season; the wind can be noticeable in Lanzarote although the cove is sheltered.
