Orellana Beach is a freshwater bathing area located in the Orellana reservoir, next to Orellana la Vieja, in the region of La Serena. It is an artificial inland beach, equipped with sand, accesses and services for recreational use, and is associated with the large reservoir basin, one of the largest in the middle section of the Guadiana. The tourist and local literature also identifies it as Costa Dulce de Extremadura. From the point of visit a wide sheet of water is contemplated framed by soft banks and an open environment, more linked to aquatic leisure than to the mountain landscape. Its main interest lies in the combination of bathing, walking and nautical activities in an area of calm waters, with the usual services of an organized beach. The area is mentioned as the first inland beach in Spain with Blue Flag, a distinction that underlines the environmental quality, accessibility and services of the environment. It is a well-known reference in Extremadura's summer tourism and appears recurrently in regional tourist guides and resources. The best time to visit is between late spring and early autumn, when bathing and services are more active. On hot days it is best to go early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the busiest time of the day.
