Playa de los Genoveses is an open inlet of fine golden sand, with an approximate length of just over a kilometer, located in the area of Campillo del Genovés, next to San José, in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park. Its landscape combines a wide bay and little transformed, low dunes, coastal vegetation and dry slopes of volcanic origin, in one of the most representative stretches of the coast of Almería. From the shore you can see a wide beach, with a smooth profile, generally calm waters and an environment with almost no buildings. The view opens up to a bay very collected by soft reliefs, which reinforces the feeling of isolation and open coast to the sea, with the contrast between the light sand and the ocher and dark tones of the dry land of the natural park. Its main interest is scenic and environmental: it is part of the protected area of Cabo de Gata-Níjar, also declared a Biosphere Reserve, and is one of the best known sandy beaches in the area for preserving a virgin aspect. It has also been the scene of film shoots, a fact that has contributed to its presence in guides and tourism materials of Andalusia and Almeria. The best time to visit is early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the light softens the relief and access is less crowded. In summer it is advisable to avoid the middle of the day because of the heat and the affluence, while in spring and autumn the landscape is more comfortable to walk and observe the environment calmly.
