Description

Las Cucharas Beach is a coastal sandy area of Costa Teguise, in the municipality of Teguise, on the east coast of Lanzarote. It is a semi-urban or urban beach, linked to a consolidated tourist front, with fine sand and a stretch of coastline that several reports describe between 400 and 700 meters long, so it is convenient to take these figures as approximate according to the source consulted. Its main attraction is the combination of bathing, coastal scenery and water sports. The references consulted agree that the stretch is fragmented by volcanic rock breakwaters, which generates areas with different exposure to waves and favors more sheltered areas for bathing, as well as sectors that are very popular for surfing, windsurfing and other water activities. It is interesting to visit because it offers a very recognizable image of the tourist coastline of Lanzarote: promenade, beach services and an environment open to the Atlantic with clear waters and sandy bottom. It also appears in specialized tourist pages as an outstanding beach of Costa Teguise and is cited with Blue Flag in several of these sources, although the official confirmation of the distinctive does not appear in the results provided. It does not appear in the sources reviewed that it is a specific protected natural area or an associated local legend. Its value lies mainly in recreational use, sports practice and the role it plays as the main beach of Costa Teguise within the coastal landscape of Teguise.

How to get there

By car: from the town of Teguise, follow the signs to Costa Teguise on the main local road; the beach is on the central seafront of the urbanization. Parking: there are parking areas in the tourist area and convenient access from the promenade; availability may vary in high season. Trail: No trail required; very short walking access from the boardwalk or nearby accommodations. Footwear: sandals or light footwear; for walking on rock at the ends, slightly firmer soles are best. Best time: spring, summer and early fall. Warnings: crowded beach; watch for wind and waves if you enter the water; respect bathing areas and areas reserved for nautical activities.
