Berria beach is a long sandy area open to the Cantabrian Sea, located on the isthmus that joins the Buciero mountain with the Argoños sector. It is about 1,800 meters long, has fine, clear sand and a gentle slope, features that make it a wide beach and very clear reading of the Cantabrian coast. Its linear and exposed shape favors the arrival of waves and makes it well known among those seeking open sea and a coastline with little urbanization. From the sand there is a wide view of the surroundings of Santoña: to the south are the marshes, while the mountainous closure of Buciero and Mount Brusco frame the landscape. This combination of beach, dunes and nearby wetlands is one of the keys to its scenic interest, because it allows us to understand in just a few meters the contact between a dynamic coastal front and one of the most valuable wetland enclaves in Cantabria. The beach is regularly mentioned in guides and tourist pages of the area, and is recognized with Blue Flag, which reinforces its recreational use and level of services. It is a place especially appreciated in clear days and with lateral light, when the relief of Buciero and the amplitude of the sandy area are better perceived. In the warm season, the morning or late afternoon hours usually offer better visual conditions and less harsh contrast on the sand.
