Benijo Beach is a natural beach of black sand and volcanic origin, located at the end of Anaga and wedged between cliffs and large marine rocks. It is about 300 meters long and about 30 meters wide, with a landscape very open to the Atlantic and a strong presence of the rocky relief of the environment. From the shore the Roques de Anaga, which are the most characteristic image of the place, are well recognized. What is most striking is the contrast between the dark sand, the waves and the volcanic needles and cliffs that emerge off the coast. Access is on foot by a staircase from the upper area, which reinforces its secluded character and keeps intact the feeling of isolated coastal spot. It is not a beach designed for calm bathing: the sea usually presents strong undertow and currents. The enclave is part of the protected environment of the Anaga Rural Park, one of the great natural landscapes of Tenerife. In guides and tourist guides of the island it appears as one of the most recognizable points of the coast of Benijo and Taganana, both for its photogenic and for the view over the rocks and cliffs. The best time to visit it is usually at sunset, when the light falls over the ocean and highlights the volcanic relief. It is also advisable to go on calm sea days if you want to walk more comfortably along the shore.
