Description
Picu Incós is a natural viewpoint located in Torazu, in the council of Cabranes, and is identified as the highest elevation of the municipality, with an altitude of 582 m according to local routes and disclosure. It is accessed from the village by footpath, so it combines scenic value with a simple and short distance hiking interest. Its location in the center-east of Asturias explains that it functions as a balcony over a very open and varied territory. The most attractive part of the visit is the panoramic views: on clear days, the Picos de Europa, the Sueve mountain range, Peñamayor and, to the north, the Asturian coastline can be seen. This character of watchtower allows to understand the relationship between mountain, valley and coastline in a single glance, something especially appreciated in nature tourism and landscape photography. Its relevance is mainly scenic and recreational, and is described in tourist resources linked to The Most Beautiful Villages of Spain and proposals for walks from Torazu. The sources consulted do not include a specific figure of environmental protection for the peak, but it is of interest as a local landmark and as the roof of the council of Cabranes.
How to get there
By car: reach Torazu from Infiesto or Nava through the local network of the council of Cabranes; the usual access to the route leaves from the village itself and links with mountain tracks towards Picu Incós.. Parking: park in the area around the village of Torazu, there is no evidence in the sources consulted of a specific parking area near the summit.. Path: ascent on foot by trail and firebreak sections; some references place the circular route at about 5.7 km and 272 m of elevation gain, with about 2 h 30 min at a leisurely pace. Footwear: hiking shoes with grippy soles; the terrain can be forest trails and open stretches. Best season: spring, autumn, and days when the trail is not too long. Best season: spring, autumn and clear winter days. Warnings: no reliable data on universal accessibility; on foggy days the orientation on the high part loses visual quality.
