Urbión Peak

Urbión Peak is a high mountain peak of the Iberian System that reaches 2,228 meters and acts as one of the great natural balconies between La Rioja and Soria. From this environment it is easy to understand the smooth shapes of the rounded summit, the valleys and the glacial modeling that characterizes the Sierra de Urbión. The area is part of a transitional relief between the Najerilla valley and the headwaters of the Duero and Ebro rivers. As a viewpoint, the interest lies in the breadth of the panorama: it dominates the alignments of the mountain range, the mountain forests and the mountain ranges surrounding Viniegra de Arriba. On clear days, the view allows to read the complete architecture of the mountain landscape, with nearby peaks that touch or exceed 1,800 meters and, in the background, the profile of the great Iberian divide.
