Description

The Pico del Águila is a natural viewpoint in Vinuesa, in the province of Soria, located in the surroundings of the region of Pinares and the Picos de Urbión. From this high point there is a wide panoramic view of the Cuerda del Pozo reservoir, the pine forests surrounding the town and, on clear days, the mountainous landscape of the area. Its main interest is landscape: it allows to understand at a glance the relationship between water, forest and relief that defines this sector of the mountain range of Soria. The access route is described as a well-marked trail in local reports, which reinforces its value as a simple destination for hiking and landscape observation. Vinuesa is located at an altitude of over a thousand meters, at the foot of the Picos de Urbión and near the Sierra de Cebollera, in an area closely linked to slash pine forests and the presence of rivers and streams such as the Duero River. This context explains why the Pico del Águila has become one of the most recognizable points to contemplate the natural geography of the municipality.

How to get there

By car: from Vinuesa, continue towards Molinos de Duero and Salduero through the local network of the area; the documented routes start from the surroundings of Molinos de Duero or Vinuesa and link by forest tracks and trails to the viewpoint. Parking: the references consulted place parking in the area around Molinos de Duero, next to industrial warehouses or trail accesses; in Vinuesa, some routes leave from the tourist office.[10 Trail: there is no single official itinerary; a circular route cited is about 7 km and about 2 hours, with a bearable final ascent but no official data on elevation gain. Footwear: hiking shoes and water, because the terrain combines trail, path and sections exposed to the weather. Best time: spring, late summer and autumn, when the forest and visibility are better. Warnings: it is not possible to climb the turret if there is restricted access; it is advisable to check the state of the trails, wind and fog before climbing.[5
