Description

The Paseo del Regajo y la Canaleja is a short hiking route in the municipality of Candelario, in the Sierra de Béjar, in the southeast of the province of Salamanca. It is a simple and familiar route that skirts the village and enters a mountain landscape marked by streams, wet slopes and mountain vegetation, with the presence of chestnut, oak and pine trees in the immediate surroundings. Its main interest lies in the contrast between the traditional farmhouse of Candelario and the natural environment that surrounds it. The itinerary allows walking through an area of great scenic value, where water and the shade of the forest accompany much of the route. In addition, it is part of the network of trails that take advantage of the natural environment of the municipality and connect with other routes in the area. Due to its characteristics, it is a suitable proposal for visitors who are looking for a short excursion without great physical demands. The route helps to understand the historical relationship of the town with its mountain landscape, especially with the gorges, streams and wooded areas that have shaped its traditional image. Candelario is integrated in a protected natural area of the Sierra de Candelario, which reinforces the environmental interest of this walk. The route is especially attractive for its combination of close nature, mid-mountain landscape and well-preserved rural environment.
