The source of the Mundo River is a karst waterfall, where the water springs from the Cueva de los Chorros and falls down a rocky wall in several jumps. It is located in the Natural Park of the Calares del Mundo and de la Sima, in an environment of calares, ravines and pine forests typical of the Sierra de Alcaraz. The altitude exceeds 1,300 meters and the whole is linked to a highly developed subway system, with galleries carved into the limestone rock. From the visiting area you can observe the main fall, the lateral spills and the pools that form at the base, as well as the stone cirque that frames the source. The interest of the place is not only in the waterfall, but in the phenomenon of the bursting, when the flow increases abruptly after periods of rain and the water comes out with great force from the cave. It is one of the best known natural sites in the province of Albacete and the most visited point in the park. The visit fits well with hiking routes and landscape observation. In the official tourist texts it appears as a natural monument and as one of the most representative corners of the park. The best time to visit is usually autumn and winter, after heavy rains, although it also offers a good image in spring if the year has been wet. It should be remembered that the flow is variable and that access can be regulated on peak days.
