Description
The Ethnological Museum Casa Fabián is an ethnographic and interpretation museum located in Alquézar, in the province of Huesca, in the Somontano de Barbastro. The equipment card identifies it as a museum center in Baja Street, and local tourist sources present it as Museo Casa Fabián or Museo Etnológico Casa Fabián. The building is located in a 17th century Aragonese house, reused as a museum, so the heritage interest lies both in the traditional domestic architecture and in its exhibition function. The facility preserves several rooms of the historic house and shows the spatial organization typical of an Aragonese rural house. Its contents are dedicated to the daily life, customs and popular arts of Alquézar and the Guara-Somontano area. In eight spaces, the museum brings together about 350 pieces related to agricultural and livestock work, farm implements, the kitchen, the cellar, the water well and other domestic rooms. Among the most outstanding elements is an oil mill excavated in the rock, which sources say may be of medieval origin or linked to medieval foundations, and which is one of the most unique features of the complex.
