Description
The Ansotano Costume Museum is an ethnological and heritage museum located in Ansó, in the province of Huesca, in the Aragonese Pyrenees region. It is located in the old and restored chapel of Santa Barbara, in the town center of the village, and is dedicated to the conservation, research and dissemination of the typical Ansotano costume and local culture. The information available places its opening to the public in 2011, coinciding with the tourist and cultural impulse of the Day of the Exaltation of the Ansotano Costume. The building that houses it is a historic chapel reused as a museum space, so the interest of the resource combines the ethnographic content with the heritage value of the building. The museum offers a journey through the different stages of the life of the Ansotanos through their traditional clothing, with costumes linked to daily life and liturgical events. Among its most outstanding features is the presentation of traditional garments and outfits that have made the Ansotan costume one of the main symbols of the municipality's identity. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the center incorporates interpretative and interactive resources to explain the meaning of the garments and facilitate the visit, reinforcing its role as a cultural facility of reference in Ansó.
