Museo Casa Alpujarreña
36.94920, -3.35464
Description
The Museo Casa Alpujarreña is an ethnographic museum located in Bubión, in the province of Granada, in the region of the Alpujarra. It is located in the Plaza de la Iglesia, at coordinates 36.94920, -3.35464, in the historic center of the village. The building is a traditional Alpujarran house converted into a museum to show the material culture and daily life of the area. Local sources place it as an old house linked to the stage of the Reconquest and, more precisely, to the sixteenth century; in any case, its origin is associated with the rural domestic architecture that emerged after the expulsion of the Moors. Its heritage value lies in the preservation of the structure and atmosphere of an Alpujarran house, with domestic rooms and traditional furniture. The exhibition brings together more than 500 objects related to agricultural uses, farm work, tools, household items and elements of family life, offering a documented vision of the rural culture of the Alpujarra. It is, therefore, a house-museum of ethnographic and local character, designed to preserve and explain the traditional way of life of Bubión and its surroundings. Its tourist interest derives both from the historical building and the collection that interprets the material memory of the region.
