The Txindoki, also called Larrunarri or Ñañarri, is one of the most recognizable peaks of Gipuzkoa: a limestone mountain of 1,346 m in the Aralar mountain range, with a very marked silhouette that dominates the valley from Larraitz and the environment of Goierri. Its isolated and sharp profile has earned it comparisons with the Matterhorn, and its presence is part of the Basque mountaineering and legendary imaginary, with the goddess Mari associated with the mountain. As a natural viewpoint, it offers a wide reading of the landscape: meadows, farmhouses, pasture slopes, the transition to the reliefs of Aralar and, on clear days, a very clear view of the interior relief of Gipuzkoa. The most common point of visit is not a built platform, but the approach or ascent from Larraitz, from where the mountain can be seen in all its monumentality. The area is linked to the Aralar Natural Park and to a network of marked trails, which reinforces its scenic and hiking interest. In local guides and routes it appears as one of the most visited mountains in Gipuzkoa, both for its aesthetics and for the variety of itineraries. The best time to visit it visually is spring and autumn, when the light is cleaner and the surrounding meadows and forests show more contrast. At dawn and dusk the shape of the massif gains volume and the profile of the Txindoki is especially photogenic.
