Silo Viewpoint

El Mirador del Silo is a tourist viewpoint installed on the old grain silo of Almagro, in the province of Ciudad Real, in Castilla-La Mancha. It is located in the urban environment of the municipality, at coordinates 38.89422, -3.70753, and is part of the heritage and landscape offer of the town. The original building was built in 1968 for the storage of wheat, and after decades of disuse was rehabilitated and put in value as a visitable space. The intervention turned the silo into a cultural and panoramic resource, with access to a terrace-viewpoint and a public area. From its upper part it offers wide views over the historic center of Almagro and the landscape of Campo de Calatrava, with special interest in its volcanic relief. The adaptation of the building includes functional elements such as elevator, access stairs and an upper platform equipped for contemplation. It is not a medieval historical monument or a religious building, but an example of the reuse of 20th century industrial architecture for tourism and information purposes.
