Description

The Mirador del Río Vero is a scenic viewpoint located in Alquézar, in the province of Huesca, over the canyon carved by the Vero River in the environment of the Natural Park of the Sierra and Canyons of Guara. It is an observation point integrated in the hiking route of the Vero footbridges and very close to the town of Alquézar, so it combines easy access with one of the best known panoramic views of the municipality. From this high point you can contemplate the river, the rocky walls of the canyon and the sequence of walkways and trails that accompany the final stretch of the route. The interest of the place is in the reading of the landscape: limestone relief, deep ravine, riparian vegetation at the bottom of the valley and the contrast between the elevated village and the protected natural area that surrounds it. Its tourist and environmental relevance derives from being associated with one of the most visited itineraries of Alquézar and a space of great geological and scenic value within the Guara-Somontano. In addition, it is described by tourist entities linked to the destination as a panoramic resource of reference in the area. It is a particularly recommended point to understand why Alquézar is identified with the landscape of the Vero River: it is not only a balcony over the canyon, but a visual synthesis of the village, the ravine and the natural environment that explains its landscape fame.

How to get there

By car: from Alquézar take the A-2205 towards Aínsa to the signposted access to the Pasarelas del Vero route; the viewpoint is reached at the end of the route or from the parking lot next to the tourist access.[9 Parking: there is signposted parking for the viewpoint/trail; the reviews mention an area for about 20 cars and the tourist access indicates the start in front of the Town Hall for the complete route. Trail: if the complete route is done, the route is circular and about 3 km long with about 180-230 m of elevation gain; approximate time, 1.5-2 h; low to medium difficulty depending on the pace. Footwear: hiking shoes or sticky soles, especially if you continue along footbridges and rocky sections. Best time of year: spring and autumn.[5 Warnings: regulated access in season, with opening hours and capacity; it is advisable to check the opening before going. Some sections may be sunny and exposed, and in the rainy season the terrain may be slippery.[2
